MARTA Services

Jurors must have their summons to gain access to the Courthouse before 8:30AM. Jurors with summons are permitted to enter the Jury Assembly area beginning at 7:30AM. Jurors without their summons will have to wait until 8:30AM to enter the courthouse.Jurors must have their summons or other proof they are a juror to board the shuttle buses to the courthouse from the juror parking lots.

Glass, sharp objects, metal and glass utensils, weapons (such as utility knives or Swiss Army knives) are prohibited in the courthouse.

Jurors will need to enter the Sheriff's security checkpoint before gaining access to the courthouse. All persons entering the Courthouse will be subject to search, as will any bag, backpack, purse, briefcase, lunch bag, etc. you may be carrying. The items listed below are not permitted inside any courthouse facility. These prohibited items are subject to confiscation by the Sheriff's Department:

Amenities

There are two cafeterias, a small one in the Justice Center Tower and a larger one in the Fulton County Government Center. Some restaurants, fast food and sit down, are located within walking distance. Lunch suggestions are available in the jury assembly room.

Wireless Internet, e-library books, and television are available.

Attire for Jury Duty

Dress should be business casual, but respectful of the Court. Do not wear shorts, halter or tank tops, clothing that exposes the midriff, beachwear, or clothing with inappropriate graphics, logos or words.

Compensation

Fulton County pays you a $25.00 per day expense allowance to cover expenses such as parking and lunch. After the completion of your service, a check along with a certificate of attendance will be mailed to you within 21-30 business days. You will receive $25.00 for each day of service. In some cases, if you serve on a jury, you may receive two (2) separate checks: one for your first day of service and another check for the remainder of your service. You can also donate your payment to the Fulton County Public libraries.

Parking Information

There are pay parking lots near the courthouse. Jury Services does not validate parking tickets or reimburse jurors who park in pay lots. However, free juror parking is available at the Yellow and Red Lots. Overflow parking will be in the Silver 2 and 3 Lots. The Red and Yellow Lots have parking for people with handicap permits and the shuttle buses are equipped for persons with disabilities.

The Yellow Lot is at the corner of Richardson Street SW and Central Avenue SW. Entrances are on Richardson and on Central (593 Central Avenue SW, Atlanta, GA, 30312).

The Red Lot is at the corner of Glenn Street SW and Central Avenue SW. Entrances are on Glenn and Central (593 Central Avenue SW, Atlanta, GA, 30312).

Silver Lot 2 is at Pryor Street and Alice Court on the south side of the Fulton County Medical Examiner's building (184 Alice St SW, Atlanta, GA, 30312).

Silver Lot 3 is at Alice Court and Central Avenue one block north on Central Avenue from the Silver Lot 2 (414 Central Ave SW Atlanta, GA 30303).

A Fulton County shuttle bus takes jurors to Court and returns them to the Parking Lots. Show the driver your jury summons upon boarding the shuttle.

Heading East on I-20: Use the right 2 lanes to take exit 56B for Windsor St toward Turner Field/Spring St. Take Pryor St SW to Central Ave SW. Use the right lane to continue toward Pryor St SW. Turn right at the 1st street onto Pryor St SW. Turn left onto Glenn St SW. Turn left onto Central Ave SW. Red and Yellow Lots will be on your left.

Heading West on I-20: Follow I-20 W to Windsor St SW in Atlanta. Take exit 56B from I-20 W. Take exit 56B for Windsor St/Spring St. Take Pryor St SW to Central Ave SW. Turn left onto Windsor St SW. Turn left at the 1st cross street toward Pryor St SW (signs for I-20 E). Use the right lane to continue toward Pryor St SW. Turn right at the 1st street onto Pryor St SW. Turn left onto Glenn St SW. Turn left onto Central Ave SW. Red and Yellow Lots will be on your left.

Heading North on I-75/85: Follow I-85 N to University Ave SW in Atlanta. Take exit 244 from I-85 toward Pryor St. SW Continue onto Pryor St. SW until slight right onto Central Ave SW. Drive to Central Ave SW. Pass Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. Red and Yellow Lots will be on the left.

Heading South on I-75/I-85: Take exit 246 and use the right lane to exit for Fulton St toward Turner Field. Turn right onto Fulton St. Turn left onto Pryor St SW. Pass Richardson St. SW and Crumley St. SW. Then turn left onto Glenn St SW. Turn left onto Central Ave SW. Red and Yellow Lots will be on your left.

Request for Deferral/Change Service Date

To defer or postpone your jury service one (1) time only, you may do so online. Please go to the Juror Questionnaire, complete your questionnaire, and then you can defer your service date. Alternatively, you can call our department at 404-612-4600 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

You may be excused from jury service if you are:

  • 70 years of age or older
  • Have a permanent mental or physical disability
  • Are NOT a resident of Fulton County at the time of service
  • Are NOT a United States citizen
  • A convicted felon whose rights have not been restored

In order to be excused from jury service, you must fill out an affidavit and present it to the Office of the Jury Clerk. The affidavits below are "fillable." You can fill in most of the information and print the document in order to have it notarized. You will not be able to save the filled in form; you will only be able to print it.

You may also be eligible to have your service date rescheduled or excused if you are:

  • The sole caregiver of a child six years of age or younger
  • The sole caregiver of a person over six years of age who is permanently disabled
  • A full-time student
  • A home study program teacher

In order to be excused or deferred for one of these reasons, you must fill out an affidavit and present it to the Office of the Jury Clerk. The affidavits below are "fillable." Reporting Instructions

The jury assembly room is located on the 7th floor of the Justice Center Tower, 185 Central Avenue, which is between Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Mitchell Street.

Term of Service

If you are asked to report and not assigned to a case on the day you report, your term of service will be concluded at the end of the business day. However, if you are assigned to a courtroom for jury selection and jury selection is not completed by the end of that day, you will be required to return to finish the selection process.

If you are selected to serve on a trial, your term of service will be the length of that trial. Most trials last from three to five days.

When you have been chosen for an actual trial or as an alternate juror, your service obligation will be fulfilled upon the conclusion of deliberations, regardless of whether or not a verdict has been reached.

Shuttle Service From Jury Parking

6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Monday through Friday
MTI Limo and Shuttle Service will provide shuttle service for Fulton County Government Employees and Jurors who park at the Turner Field Red and Yellow Lots. The shuttles are equiped for persons for persons with disabilities.

10:00 a.m. through 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
Fulton County Facilities and Transportation Services Department will provide bus and shuttle service.
