THE JUDGE ROWLAND W. BARNES SCHOLARSHIP LUNCHEON

On Thursday, May 21, 2015, the recipients of the Judge Rowland W. Barnes Memorial Scholarship were announced. During a special luncheon to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the tragic courthouse shooting which cost the Honorable Rowland W. Barnes his life, the founding committee presented first year law student Lorrin Stone and third year law student Roxanne Walton with their awards. The founding committee, Superior Court of Fulton County Deputy Chief Judge T. Jackson Bedford, Jr., the Honorable Judge H. Clay Collins of Palmetto Municipal Court, and Emory University adjunct professor Robert G. Wellon, along with the Atlanta Bar Association and Foundation created the memorial fund to support the families and honor the memories of the victims from that tragic day. Since 2007, the scholarship has been awarded annually to students at Emory University School of Law, the alma mater of Judge Rowland W. Barnes, who possess non-academic life experience between undergraduate and law school such as leadership skills, dedication to law school education, and ability to lead a well-balanced life.
