ORDER GRANTING RELIEF FROM STATUTORY SPEEDY TRIAL REQUIREMENTS PURSUANT TO O.C.G.A. 38-3-62

Superior Court Chief Judge Christopher S. Brasher issued a Local Order granting relief from statutory speedy trial requirements pursuant to O.C.G.A § 38-3-62(b). This Order takes effect at 12:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 29th, 2021 and expires at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 1st, 2022. This order suspends, tolls, extends and otherwise grants relief from time deadlines to try a case where a demand for speedy trial, pursuant to O.C.G.A §§ 17-7-170 and 17-7-171 has been filed. A subsequent Local Order regarding the Health and Safety in the Fulton Courthouse Complex was also entered by Chief Judge Christopher S. Brasher on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 requiring the continued enforcement of health and safety protocols. Public health measures put in place by Order of this Court June 20, 2020 in its Guidelines for Expanding In-Person Proceedings, inclusive of but not limited to the wearing of masks and social distancing, remain in place during the term of this Order.
